We are thrilled to share an exciting announcement that will undoubtedly add a golden touch to this year's PURPOSE Annual Conference – the introduction of the prestigious Golden Neuron Awards! The PURPOSE Network (Positively Uniting Researchers of Pain to Opine, Synthesize, and Engage) is committed to recognizing and celebrating outstanding contributions in the field of pain research, and what better way to achieve this than through the Golden Neuron Awards?

The Power of Recognition and Appreciation

At the heart of our community lies the belief in the power of recognition, acceptance, and appreciation to foster a vibrant and supportive environment. The Golden Neuron Awards are our way of acknowledging the incredible work carried out by each member of this community, and it's time to shine a light on your significant contributions.

Award Categories

The Golden Neuron Awards will be presented in five distinguished categories:

  1. Pain Scientist of the Year: Acknowledging the exemplary work of an individual who has made significant contributions to advancing our understanding of pain.
  2. Best Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Recognizing the importance of collaborative efforts in pain research, this award honors outstanding achievements in multidisciplinary collaboration.
  3. Mentor of the Year: Celebrating an individual who has demonstrated exceptional mentorship qualities, guiding and inspiring the next generation of researchers.
  4. Rising Star Researcher: Highlighting the achievements of an emerging researcher who shows great promise and potential in the field of pain research.
  5. Best Representation and Inclusion: Emphasizing the importance of inclusivity, this award honors efforts in representing and including persons with pain and/or their families in the research community.

Eligibility and Nomination Process

Candidates for the Golden Neuron awards will be assessed on their contributions to the field of pain research, the impact of their work, and their history of collaborative team science. Nominations are open to researchers worldwide, but nominees must register to attend the PURPOSE Annual Meeting in person. Self-nominations are also permitted.

Nomination Opens on February 1, 2024

Mark your calendars! The nomination process for the Golden Neuron Awards opens on February 1, 2024. We invite all members of our community to actively participate in recognizing those individuals who have truly made a difference in advancing our shared goals.
