NIH Funding Opportunities and Notices Reminder: NIH Applications Must Be Complete and Compliant with NIH Policy and Application Instructions at Time of Submission The purpose of this notice is to remind applicants, both sponsored programs officials as well as investigators, that to be fair to all concerned the NIH will consistently apply standards for application completeness and for compliance with all submission requirements and NIH policies. NIH Director’s Early Independence Awards (DP5 Clinical Trial Optional) Supports rigorous and promising investigators who wish to pursue independent research soon after completion of their terminal doctoral degree or post-graduate clinical training, thereby forgoing the traditional post-doctoral training period and accelerating their entry into an independent research career. NIH Director’s New Innovator Award Program (DP2 Clinical Trial Optional) Supports early stage investigators of exceptional creativity who propose bold and highly innovative research projects with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important areas relevant to the mission of NIH. Administrative Supplements to Existing NIH Grants and Cooperative Agreements (Parent Admin Supp Clinical Trial Optional) Current recipients of specific types of NIH research grants may apply for administrative supplements, using this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), to provide additional funding to a currently funded grant to meet increased costs that are within the scope of the peer-reviewed and approved project, but that were unforeseen when the new or competing renewal application was awarded.

The Program features: • Development of scientific and professional skills through mentored training in basic and clinical neuroscience • Competitive compensation, benefits, and travel support • Participation at national conferences to present research findings
Upcoming Workshops and Events at the Allen Institute
We are excited to share with you a number of our 2026 neuroscience workshops and events which are currently accepting applications. We have programs for neuroscientists at every career stage and encourage you to explore the list and apply. All events are hosted at the Allen Institute in Seattle, Washington unless otherwise noted. Applications Open for the Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Award
Due: Jan 14, 2026
The Fellows-to-Faculty Award program supports talented early career scientists by facilitating their transition into tenure-track faculty positions. The focus of this program is the $600,000 USD three-year faculty research grant. Additionally, fellows engage with a community of investigators and receive mentoring and peer support during their transition.
2026 Clinical Trials Methodology Course: Call for Applications
Due: Jan 21, 2026
Now in its 14th year, the goal of the CTMC is to train early career investigators to develop scientifically rigorous, feasible, and ethically designed clinical trials. CTMC participants will learn best practices in clinical trial design from experienced neurological clinical trialists and biostatisticians. By the end of the course, participants will have a refined protocol synopsis, as well as a working version of the full trial protocol and the beginning steps of a grant.
We will host an informational webinar on December 10, 2025, from 12:00-1:00pm Eastern Time to provide more guidance and answer questions about the course and application process. A recording will be added to our website after the session.
